Oral history interview : Laurens N. Ruben, Reed College, Professor of Biology, 1955-1992 / interviewed by Christopher Lowe, 1982, on December 15, 2003 and May 26, 2004.

Ruben taught war veterans and discussed his background and the actions and personalities of the faculty and administration, in particular the presidents (Keezer, Scott, Odegard, MacNaughton, Ballantine, Sullivan, Youtz, Thompson, Rosenblum, Bragdon, Powell, and Koblik). He covers the Velde Committee hearings (HUAC), the Black Student Union struggle, and various student and departmental actions and incidents. He became an emeritus professor upon his retirement in 1992.
